portfolio :D

For my portfolio i am going to photograph different people and places in Klowna and Westbank because i love this place and i have lived her for a large part of my life.

I also like the idea of photgraphing people that are happy even tho they have every right to be sad like a homless person for example.

Wendy Stone

Wendy Stone came to Africa on an assignment in 1988, and fell in love with the individualistic tribes and the untouched landscapes, she knew right away she would never leave. She has now traveled to 20 african countries and covered stories in Ethiopia, the civil war in Somalia and the relentless war in Southern Sudan. This photo above /is currently one of the most famous images of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, which has been going on since 2006.The Janjaweed (the reble group comitting genocide,) will enter a village on horse or camel back. They then set about causing as much mayhem and terror as possible: destroying houses and buildings, shooting the men, gang raping the women and children and shooting any who try to escape. The village is generally destroyed, families dispersed and separated, most killed. Those who manage to escape then attempt the long journey to an IDP (Internally displaced persons) camp. More than 3 million people have been displaced and are living in IDP camps. In her photos she shows the sadness of the survivors of the horrid attacks, the vulnerability, poverty, and the fear for their lives.http://www.wendystone.com/

Photographer Riccardo Gangale.

(Mother holds her two daughters after tear gas was released by police in the Kibera slum in Nairobi)
The reason that I chose this photographer is, because he isnt just a photograopher who takes pictures of pretty girls in pretty clothes. Gangale has made beautifully tragic photos from all over Africa. his most recent work covers the starvation, drought, and poverty in Chad. He has also photgraphed Bono in one of his visits and has captured images form the war in the Republic of Congo. His photos have been published in such places as The New York Times, Time Magazine, The Times, Liberation, and Le Monde.
